Location
Complex mixed contamination at the AMCO Chemical Superfund site in California included VOCs, SVOCs, PAHs, PCBs, pesticides, LNAPL, and chlorinated solvents (TCE, cis-1,2-DCE, vinyl chloride) across soil and groundwater. Air emission constraints imposed by the Bay Area Air Quality Management District required treatment system off-gas to meet strict vinyl chloride emissions limits.
ET-DSP™ was implemented to thermally treat the full contaminant mixture. The vapor treatment system incorporated granular activated carbon (VGAC) and potassium permanganate-impregnated zeolite beds to capture and destroy vinyl chloride and other VOC emissions, ensuring off-gas compliance throughout the heating program.
Over 37,000 lbs of mixed contamination—including VOCs, SVOCs, PAHs, PCBs, pesticides, LNAPL, and chlorinated solvents—were recovered from the AMCO Chemical Superfund site in California using ET-DSP thermal remediation. Vinyl chloride emissions were maintained below 1 lb throughout heating operations, meeting the Bay Area Air Quality Management District’s health-based emissions standards. The vapor treatment system incorporating granular activated carbon and potassium permanganate-impregnated zeolite beds successfully captured and destroyed vinyl chloride and other VOC off-gas constituents within the imposed air emission constraints throughout the full duration of the thermal treatment program.
