TCE, PCE, vinyl chloride, and LNAPL contamination required treatment beneath an active industrial facility in Tipton, Indiana under severely constrained access conditions: minimal overhead clearance, buried utilities, live electrical infrastructure, and a concurrent $2M facility expansion requiring constant coordination with active construction crews.
ET-DSP™ was deployed to treat a 7,900+ cubic yard volume using 106 electrodes at 53 locations, supported by 18 multiphase extraction wells, 17 soil vapor extraction wells, and 9 sensor wells to depths of 30 feet. Comprehensive safety systems included perimeter fencing, emergency egress, a thermally insulating vapor cap, and continuous indoor air monitoring. The system applied over 2,200 MWh of energy to achieve uniform heating throughout the treatment zone.
Greater than 99% reduction in chlorinated solvent concentrations was achieved across the 7,900+ cubic yard treatment volume at the active industrial facility in Tipton, Indiana. An additional 1,631 lbs of LNAPL were recovered during the ET-DSP heating operations. The 106-electrode system applied over 2,200 MWh of energy, supported by 18 multiphase extraction wells, 17 soil vapor extraction wells, and 9 sensor wells to depths of 30 feet. All remedial objectives were met without change orders. Full industrial operations were maintained continuously throughout the remediation program, including during the concurrent $2M facility expansion that required constant coordination between the remediation and construction teams.
